What is the difference between Hiatus Wellness and some other recovery centres?
What temperature are your Cold Plunge Baths?
Our cold plunges are maintained between 8–10°C, a range supported by current research as effective for cold-water therapy. While cold immersion can be beneficial across a broader range—typically 6–15°C—evidence indicates that going colder does not necessarily increase the therapeutic benefits. This temperature window provides an optimal balance between effectiveness and safety, ensuring you receive the full benefits of cold exposure while remaining comfortable and in control.
Do you have showers and change rooms?
At our Hiatus Wellness studios most of our locations have change room and shower facilities. So if you are needing to pop in before or after work or during a lunch break we have you covered. Be sure to contact your local Lab for clarification.
Do you do casual visits / sessions?
Absolutely, at Hiatus Wellness we offer casual visits and sessions ranging from 20mins to 60mins are available to book. We ask that you book your sessions prior to arriving to avoid disappointment, as bookings are limited each day. Download the app, create a profile, choose your session, day and time, checkout and you will be good to go. Please ensure you fill in any waivers or health screening forms prior to arriving.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes we do sell gift cards. They can be purchased from within the app, this website or from the studio. Gift Cards can be purchased for any amount and redeemed for purchases in studio or via the app and website.

Are your Sauna's private?
At Hiatus Wellness when you book an Infrared Sauna, you can rest assured that this is a private space for yourself, or for an extra fee you can bring a friend to enjoy the space with you.
Are your Cold Plunge Baths communal?
At Hiatus Wellness we have a semi private cold plunge bath area. Meaning that for your booking you will be designated your own bath so you can relax and carry out your session without any interruptions. Our Cold Plunge space houses between 3 baths side by side, so there may be others in the area, but you will always be designated your own for your booking.
What should I wear for my session?
For your sessions, if you are doing an Cold/Hot Plunge Bath or Infrared Sauna we encourage your to bring your own towels or towel hire is available at reception. Towels must be used to sit on in your Infrared Saunas. If you are doing an Cold Plunge Session it is always a good idea to bring some warm clothing with you to wear afterwards to help you body warm up naturally after your plunge. For compression boots wear comfortable clothing with no sharp zips or leg jewellery to be worn. Gym tights or shorts for the ladies and shorts or track pants for the men are best for our compression boots. We also encourage you to bring a water bottle with you for your Ice Bath or Sauna sessions, so you can stay sufficiently hydrated.
It's my first Infrared Sauna session, what should I expect?
Your first infrared sauna session will take place in a calm, comfortable environment designed to ease you into the experience. Unlike traditional saunas, infrared saunas use infrared wavelengths to warm the body directly rather than heating the surrounding air. This creates a gentler, more manageable heat that many people find soothing.
As your core temperature gradually rises, you may begin to sweat. This natural response can support circulation, assist the body’s natural detoxification processes, help ease muscle tension, and provide temporary relief from joint discomfort. Many clients also report feeling deeply relaxed, with improvements in sleep quality and overall recovery.
Our team will guide you through your session, including temperature settings, recommended duration, and any adjustments needed to match your comfort level.
For optimal results:
-
Stay hydrated before and after your session
-
Wear light, comfortable clothing
-
Begin with shorter sessions as your body adapts
-
Allow time to cool down afterward
If you have existing health concerns—such as cardiovascular conditions, respiratory issues like asthma, or if you are pregnant—please consult your healthcare provider before using an infrared sauna.
It's my first Cold Plunge Session, what should I expect?
Your first ice bath at Hiatus Wellness is designed to be safe, guided, and highly controlled. Our team will walk you through the process, explain what to expect, and support you from start to finish.
As you step into the cold water, it’s normal to feel an immediate, brief shock response as your body adjusts to the temperature. With controlled breathing and guidance from our team, this initial response typically settles into a more manageable and focused sensation. Cold-water immersion may help reduce inflammation, ease muscle soreness, support recovery, and positively influence mood and mental clarity.
To get the most out of your session:
-
Focus on slow, steady breathing to help regulate your body’s response
-
Bring warm clothing to change into afterward
-
Follow the instructions provided by our staff throughout the session
If you have underlying health conditions—particularly cardiovascular, respiratory, or circulatory concerns—please consult your healthcare provider before participating in cold-water immersion.
Is it safe to use an Infrared Sauna with Breast Implants?
Yes, it’s generally safe to use an infrared sauna if you have implants. Infrared saunas heat the body directly, so they don’t usually affect implants, whether they’re silicone, saline, or metal. However, always check with your doctor or surgeon to be sure, especially if your implants are fresh or you’re recovering from surgery. Our team at Hiatus Wellness will ensure your session is set up comfortably and safely for you. If in doubt, it’s always best to consult a healthcare professional. Enjoy your session and the soothing benefits of the sauna!
Can I use an Infrared Sauna while pregnant?
Using an infrared sauna during pregnancy is generally not recommended. The high heat can pose risks, such as overheating, dehydration, and changes in blood pressure, which can be harmful to both you and your baby. Always consult with your healthcare provider before using an infrared sauna or any other heat therapy during pregnancy. Your health and safety come first, so it’s best to err on the side of caution. Stay safe and take care!
Can I attempt a Cold Plunge with a heart condition?
Cold plunging with a heart condition can be risky. The sudden exposure to cold water can cause a rapid change in heart rate and blood pressure, which might strain your cardiovascular system. It’s crucial to consult with your healthcare provider before attempting a cold plunge or any form of cold therapy if you have a heart condition. Your doctor can provide personalized advice based on your specific health situation. Always prioritize safety and follow professional medical guidance. Stay safe!
How long do I stay in the Cold Plunge?
For your first Cold Plunge, start with a short duration to allow your body to adapt. Aim for about 1-2 minutes initially. As you get more comfortable with the process, you can gradually increase the time, typically up to 8-11 minutes. Always listen to your body and get out if you start feeling too uncomfortable or numb. Remember to consult your healthcare provider before starting ice baths, especially if you have any underlying health conditions. Stay safe and enjoy the benefits of cold therapy! Reminder that if you are considering doing cold water exposure, the minimum effective dose to achieve the benefits of ice baths is 11 minutes per week TOTAL! Not per session.
